Holy Spirit School is one of eight schools in the Diocese of San Jose that is participating in the St. Katharine Drexel School Initiative. The Initiative was launched by Bishop Patrick J. McGrath and is the Diocese’s response to the need to recommit to and bolster the levels of student academic success and to harness technology to improve student learning.
In June 2013, our faculty attended the Academy of Blended Learning at the School of Education and Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University. They were provided teacher training and support as they blend face to face classrooms, digital technology and community-based learning opportunities into their classrooms. Our faculty will receive ongoing training and support throughout the school year and will receive a Certificate in Blended Learning from SCU.
This initiative also included a parent engagement component. In the Spring of 2013, a group of committed and hard-working parents met weekly to examine our school’s identity, mission, operations and financial health for long-term growth and sustainability and to develop a plan to ensure that Holy Spirit School continues to move in a positive and forward direction. The initiatives that were created are currently being implemented by various committees across our community.
