Distance Learning
We are proud of the fact that within three days of the Sant Clara County decision to issue a Shelter-in-Place order, Holy Spirit School students and teachers were already engaged in a distance learning program.
Different grades require different methods, but all of our students are actively participating in FAITH. KNOWLEDGE. COMMUNITY. daily.
To that end, the following were created:

FAITH.
Holy Spirit School continues to pray together and celebrate the mass via livestream every Thursday morning. To join us at our school mass, please visit the Holy Spirit Parish livestream: https://holyspiritchurch.org/live-stream-mass/ on Thursdays at 8:30 am.
KNOWLEDGE.
Pre-K classes continue their circle times and story times via Zoom. Teachers provide explicit instruction through a combination of recorded and live Zoom lessons. A variety of apps that our students have used since the first day of school continue to supplement and enhance their learning.

Kindergarten, Primary and Intermediate students receive a daily learning grid outlining assignments, live lesson times and links to Science, PE, Spanish, Music and Art assignments. Teachers provide explicit instruction through a combination of live and recorded lessons on Zoom. Guided practice is given to students in small groups in order to provide multiple opportunities to master the learning objective. A variety of apps that our students have used since the first day of school continue to supplement and enhance their learning.

Middle School student's school day includes scheduled zoom lectures and discussions as well as links to PE, Spanish, Music and Art assignments. Teachers break off into small zoom groups for differentiated instruction and a variety of apps that our students have used since the first day of school continue to supplement and enhance their learning.

COMMUNITY.
Every morning we gather as a school for a zoom morning assembly. Assembly has always been a reminder that we are part of a community larger than our home or classroom. Now, more than ever, assembly reminds us that we are all together even when we're apart.
We also mourn the loss of events and activities that reinforce the bonds of our community - the spring auction, the fun run, May crowning, graduation, to name a few. When possible, our teachers and staff are going out of their way to connect with their students. For example, our kindergarten teachers safely and carefully delivered work packets to their students in the school drop off circle and their eighth grade counterparts personally delivered yard signs to every HSS Class of 2020 graduate.
