welcome to 8th grade I'm Lyssa Coulter and I teach religion to my 8th grade homeroom Algebra 2 both 8th grade homeroom and pre-algebra to both 7th grade homeroom 8th grade can be very overwhelming Force too many of them don't know any other school community excited and nervous about leaving Holy Spirit School in addition to ensuring they get all the academic curriculum they need to be successful in high school and beyond my role as an eighth grade teacher is the Foster the bonds they have here and it's still confidence in their Readiness to Thor the things we cover an algebra class are we start by solving equations we then move on to those fun factor and factoring of polynomials and end with quadratics in pre-algebra we start with solving equations and inequalities move to probability and end the year with Statistics religion curriculum in 8th grade will. The culmination of everything they've learned throughout all of these years and it's a project-based curriculum about the history of the Catholic Church what is grade year will we have to start with the first grade buddy program this is an opportunity to connect and make an impact on students that are just starting their Holy Spirit School Journey then in September we get to go to leadership camp some of the students have been waiting for this their whole time at Holy Spirit school here they recognize their role as the Future Leaders of the school and prepare for their final year together when's their first opportunity at the Halloween Carnival this is when they get to run the booth sell the tickets and leave the parade for all of our younger students the Advent show is what the students have been waiting for throughout the years of Holy Spirit they have watched the show and performed in the show singing different Christmas songs but this year they get to be in the live nativity scene they will dress up as Joseph Mary still get to be the Shepherds and the angels and they will get to make that live nativity scene and take that final picture their parents have been waiting for over all of these years at the end of the year we have an amazing youth Minister and he prepares a retreat for them where they really reflect upon their years and journey here at Holy Spirit School how do we end their Adventure here at Holy Spirit it culminates with a course map we have a graduation ceremony where we honor all of their accomplishments of every student and the perfect Catholic tradition of celebrating Mass we hope you can join our Holy Spirit community and can experience all the joy of these 8th graders have thank
